Established in 1971, Guru Nanak College Moga has been a beacon of quality education and Sikh values for over five decades.
Guru Nanak College Moga was established in 1971 to commemorate the quincentenary celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Founded by the philanthropists and Sikh leaders of the region, this institution was built on a singular mission — the all-round development of students with special emphasis on moral upliftment and academic excellence.
Under the management of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, and affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, GNC Moga has grown into one of the most respected colleges of the Malwa region of Punjab.
The college operates under the guiding philosophy of Vidya Vichar Vadee — knowledge, reflection, and purposeful action — instilling in every student the values of service, integrity, and excellence.
The foundation stone of Guru Nanak College Moga was laid in 1971 by the Sikh community of Moga and surrounding areas as a tribute to the 500th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji — the founder of Sikhism and a timeless messenger of truth, equality, and compassion.
In its early years, the college offered a modest range of Arts and Commerce programmes. Over the subsequent decades, it steadily expanded its academic portfolio and infrastructure, earning a reputation for academic rigour and value-based education. The management of the college was subsequently taken over by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) — the apex religious body of the Sikhs — which has since ensured that the college upholds both academic standards and the rich Sikh heritage.
Today, Guru Nanak College Moga stands as a fully developed institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Arts, Commerce, and Computer Science streams. With over 15,000 alumni who have distinguished themselves in every walk of life — from civil services and academia to business and the arts — the college continues to fulfil its founding promise of transforming young lives.
Guided by the teachings of Guru Nanak — Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako, Naam Japo (Earn honestly, Share with others, Meditate on the Divine) — GNC Moga remains committed to educating not just the minds but the hearts and souls of every student who walks through its gates.
